To present as much information as possible to the user of this site we have utilized abbreviations on this site.
--- (as catalog number) = Not listed in catalog
// = indicates not a complete set (e.g. 34//45 indicates stamps between #34 and 45 (not a set)
2B = 2 band phosphor
AOP = all over phosphor
b = block (e.g. b/4v = block of 4 values)
bklt = booklet (complete stamp booklet as issued)
BP = booklet pane
chalky = chalky paper
Eng = English
ex-bklt = stamp is from booklet and usually has one or two imperforate edges
CB = center band phosphor
GA = arabic gum
Gae = Gaelic
Ger = German
gz = glazed paper
h/prs = horizontal pairs
i/b = imperforate at bottom
i/t = imperforate at top
imperf = imperforate
imprint = date printed (e.g. 1978, 2002, etc)
INV (for booklets) = panes are inverted (upside down)
LB = left band phosphor
ms = miniature sheets (sheet of stamps/same stamp per sheet)
ord = ordinary paper
ovpt = overprint
p. = perforation (e.g. p.13 = perforated 13)
pp = phosphor paper
pr = pair
prs = pairs
Q = Questa (stamp printer)
redrawn = stamp reissued with modification of design
s = strip (e.g. s/5v = strip of 5 values/stamps)
s/wmk = sideways watermark
sa = self adhesive
ss = souvenir sheet (S.G. uses the term of miniature sheets)
surch = surcharged
T = Type (e.g. = Type I )
UP (for booklets) = panes are upright (normal)
v = values in set (e.g. 5v = 5 values)
v/prs = vertical pairs
W = Walsall (stamp Printer)
